Attentive User Interfaces

Users are surrounded by multiple ubiquitous devices. Every device acts in isolation and tries to attract the user attention regardless of the user's ongoing tasks and priorities. In addition to the problems come with today’s rapidly changing information environment, it’s a heavy burden for users to cope with those devices. When it is considered that user attention is a limited resource that must be protected and even augmented, it will be clearly seen that computing devices my no longer behave like this. Attentive User Interfaces (AUIs) have come on the scene as a solution to these mentioned problems.

AUIs are user interfaces that are sensitive to the user’s attention. They aim to anticipate and support the user by monitoring, protecting and augmenting the user attentional capacities. They do this on the basis of information gathered from riche input channels like eye tracking, speech recognition and user's other physical and biological conditions that are in.

People need more sociable, considerate and even invisible computing devices and therefore we think that the future of ubiquitous computing lay in Attentive User Interfaces.
